About Me:
My name is Bob Nelson and I've been a quadraplegic since I broke my neck in a diving accident on 7/03/83 and I've been in a wheelchair for over 25 yrs! For more detils click on photos above. In case your wondering why I'm starting a web-site on wound care am I showing pitchures of my family and pets well the reason is that it keeps my spirits up after all the pain and suffering I've been through I have to remind myself how fotunate I have been! After all that I've been through I can sit up in my wheelchair over 16 hours a day! After you view the size of the hole I had on my buttox you'll understand why I started this web-site Not for prophit but to help others if I can! I hope some of these pitchures don't gross some of you out but this is what they looked like before and after! Also in both these wounds I had an infetion called Osteomyelitis which is an infection deep in your bones and requires either pic-line or Centeral line put into your heart in order to get enough antibiotics to treat this infection! I also had MRSA another infection that is hard to treat and dispite all this my body managed to heal very well! So if I can help just 1 person with this web-site I'll feel like I've accomplished somthing worth this effort! Bob
There is one thing I want to make perfectly clear! I wouldn't have had the heart to overcome all that I have been through without the Northeast Independent Living Program! This is the organization that helps people like myself live Independently. I spent 18 months in a Nursing Home from July of 2007 until December 6, 2008 recovering from my wounds. I saw for the first time what life in a Nursing Home was and I didn't like what I saw! It wasn't until I had to live in one that I realized that if it wasn't for the N.I.L.P thats were I would have had to live! Not just myself but alot of other people who have serious accidents that change the way we have to live our lives! Knowing that I would be able to live my life independently again gave me the strength I needed to heal and get back into my own apartment again! "Thank you N.I.L.P. and all the people who work there that made this possible!" Bob
